Monday October 17th unfortunate event of Cross Egypt Challenge.
October 18th, 2011
It is with great sorrow to announce an unfortnate event that took place on Monday, October 17th. During the ride from Dahab to Sharm Elsheikh, one of our riders was involved in an accident on the road and won't be able to continue the route to Abu Simbel. Our beloved and energetic Mona Elmadany, one of three brave Egyptian girls on the team encountered some rocks on a sharp curve on our route resulting in a crash. She is now hospitalized in Sharm Eksheikh International Hospital under the supervision of doctors and accompanied by a fellow rider. Her injuries include some cuts, and doctors expect full recovery very soon.
Mona was determined to continue the journey to Abu Simbel, but because of the set backs, she will not be able to. The rest of the team members are dedicating the ride in honor of Mona.
In this regard, the Cross Egypt Challenge team thanks the emergency crews in Dahab and Sharm Elsheikh for their prompt and quick response. We would also like to thank the Governor of Sharm Eksheikh for his support and his visit to our fellow team member in the hospital.
