The countdown begins for Cross Egypt Challenge 2013

Only one month left for Egypt’s one-of-a-kind scooter rally to kick off from the coastal city of Alexandria.


This November, more than forty-five international riders are going to participate in the third season of Cross Egypt Challenge. Throughout their nine-day journey, riders will uncover the mysteries of Egypt, experience a variety of terrains, and make life-time friendships. The Cross Egypt Challenge organizing committee is working round-the-clock to insure the smooth progression of this year’s challenge.


The 2013 season will start on November 8 and will last for 9 days. The successful series will include a fascinating and challenging route of 2400 km which will start from the Mediterranean city of Alexandria; pass by Egypt's capital, Cairo, make stops at the Western Desert Oases of Bahareya, Farafra, Dakhla, and Kharga, then heads east towards Luxor, Hurghada, and Sokhna before ending the journey in Cairo at the foot of the Great Pyramids of Giza.


Cross Egypt Challenge is a series of endurance scooter rallies conducted throughout the most challenging roads and tracks in Egypt, a breathtaking experience that is equally fascinating for spectators and riders alike. Cross Egypt Challenge combines the best of adventure travel and extreme sport and gives everyone, whether a rider or spectator, the chance to experience Egypt like never before.


The series started in 2011 and the first season was a 9 day ride from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in the North of Egypt to the temple of Abu Simbel, on the southern borders of Egypt with a total distance of over 1700 km.


The 2012 season witnessed a 2400 km route starting from Egypt’s famous capital and passing through the most exotic oases of the Egyptian Western Desert, ending the season in the world’s largest open air museum, the city of Luxor.


The new season includes participants from 12 different countries including, Egypt, USA, Canada, UK, Mexico, Brazil, Brunei, New Zealand, Romania, South Africa , Australia and Greece who will arrive to Egypt early November to take part in this coming season.


Ahmad Elzoghby, the official spokesperson of the challenge said: “Cross Egypt Challenge is a one-of-a-kind experience. It is a dream of many world citizens to visit and experience Egypt, combine that with a scooter riding experience and you get an unbeatable experience. The Cross Egypt Challenge is meant to bring global media attention to Egypt and to confidently announce that Egypt is safe for tourism.”
